Artifact - Oblivion
Cupid's Bane
Cupid's Bane is a legendary broken blade connected to inheritance, memory, and the burden of power in the Valentine bloodline.
Overview
In public-facing form, Cupid's Bane is best understood as more than a weapon. It is a story object: a visible symbol of legacy, expectation, and the connection between a character's personal identity and the wider mythology of Aarda.
Narrative Design Purpose
The artifact gives Gryff Valentine a tangible link to the world's history without needing to explain every hidden detail at once. Its broken-blade identity also creates a strong visual metaphor for incomplete knowledge, inherited pressure, and power that must be understood before it can be safely used.
Public Lore Notes
- Cupid's Bane is associated with the Valentine bloodline and the larger mythology of Oblivion.
- The blade's damaged state is useful as both a visual hook and a narrative question.
- Public content should avoid origin mechanics, transformations, late-story consequences, and final weapon states.
